Starting this week, TikTok users have a new way to keep the soundtrack of their scrolling lives close at hand.
SoundCloud has officially joined TikTok's "Add to Music" feature—meaning songs you discover while doomscrolling can now be saved straight to your Liked Tracks on SoundCloud with just a couple of taps.

This integration is already rolling out across TikTok, and it's a pretty big deal, especially for indie artists. SoundCloud, home to over 400 million tracks from more than 40 million creators, is known for spotlighting emerging musicians and weirdly wonderful sounds you won't find on the big-name platforms. By making it easier to bridge the gap between TikTok clips and full tracks, this move gives smaller artists a real shot at turning casual listeners into loyal fans.
TikTok explained that the goal is to empower artists and help them form "lasting connections" with their audiences. Basically, if you liked that 12-second chorus that popped up on your For You Page, you can now go find the full track without falling down a search rabbit hole.
This also comes at the same time SoundCloud is launching its own "Move to Music" tool, which lets users transfer playlists from other music platforms to SoundCloud. Handy if you're thinking of jumping ship—or just want to consolidate your chaotic taste in one place.
Sure, Spotify and Apple Music still dominate the streaming scene, but SoundCloud's unique appeal is its open-door policy: anyone can upload music, which means it's packed with hidden gems. And considering how massive TikTok is for music discovery—84% of 2024's Billboard 200 hits gained traction on TikTok first—this partnership could give SoundCloud a much-needed boost.
At the end of the day, TikTok is where music trends are born, mutated, and meme'd into the mainstream. Adding SoundCloud into the mix just makes it even easier to discover what's next—and maybe, who's next.
