Are you ready to start having AI in your Facebook group? Come on, you know you want it.

Person Under a Computer Chip That Reads AI
Meta is urging Facebook group admins to jump on the bandwagon for its upcoming AI invasion. The point of generative AI elements for group management includes getting a hand from AI with content recommendations, new topic filters, and generative AI post prompts.

So, wait, AI will be doing the human stuff that comes with posting?

When a new post (thought up by AI, of course) hits the feed, admins and users will have access to AI tools that will help tweak their message. There will be options to make the posts more emotional, professional, exciting, funnier, or whatever, and it can all be done with a single tap.

Who needs people anyway?

It sounds good on the surface. AI can help refine messages and make your words (in theory) sound better, based on the "billions of examples built into the training dataset. Since Meta's AI systems are trained on Facebook and IG posts, this might be handy, but is it really necessary?

We suppose some people are okay with this, but there are concerns. Some people can see that the more we let AI systems write for us, not only original posts but replies too, the more bots will be talking bots. That defeats the purpose of humans interacting with, you know, humans.

People won't have to do much except sit back and observe the interaction between the bots. Who needs participation anyway?

And how will this affect advertising? Asking for a friend. Will bots be selling to bots?

On the plus side, AI can polish your grammar, making you look smarter in group chats. No more being made fun of because you don't know the difference between "it's" and "its."

But is all of this necessary, and will AI help or hurt us in the future? We hate to bring Elon up again, but he is the one who said there's some chance above zero that AI will destroy us all.

Maybe he's thinking ahead, although he has joined the AI game, too, so there's that.
