So, what is co-pilot? In case you're unfamiliar, according to Microsoft, it's your "everyday AI companion" because we all need an everyday AI companion, right?

And if you are using Android, you don't need the Bing mobile app to hang out with your new AI companion. You can download Copilot on your Android devices.

Microsoft's Copilot app for Android is like ChatGPT, offering users chatbot capabilities, image generation with DALL-E 3, and the capability to create text for emails and documents. It comes with free access to OpenAI's latest GPT-4 model, which you have to shell out additional cash for if you are a ChatGPT user.

Microsoft has been low-key about the launch of a dedicated Copilot app for Android. We're not sure why the secrecy, but the app is now available in the Google Play Store, offering access to Microsoft's AI-powered Copilot without needing the Bing mobile app.

Copilot for Android has been available to us for about a week, but with no fanfare; many had no idea. There were no parties, no big announcements, and no hoopla. It's just there.

If you're an iOS user, however, we're sorry to announce that you aren't getting it yet.

This exciting but quiet launch happened about a month after Microsoft changed Bing Chat to Copilot. We have to admit, Copilot sounds a lot better.

This isn't Microsoft's virgin voyage into AI waters. It launched its initial AI push inside its Bing search engine earlier this year with a ChatGPT-like interface in search results. You still can access that, but Microsoft is letting Copilot take center stage as a standalone product.

Although Microsoft didn't make a big deal of the Android release, it does seem to be a natural progression to expanding the Copilot experience. As we mentioned, there's no iOS version yet, but it will likely come soon.

In the meantime, those of you with Android can access your everyday AI companion right now. You'll never have to be alone again.
