Spotify Finally Lets You Bring Your Playlists Home

Spotify is rolling out a global update that finally answers a long-standing user gripe:
importing playlists directly inside the app. No more hopping between tabs or trusting shady third-party sites. The feature is landing in the Spotify mobile app right now, and it's designed to make switching over a whole lot smoother—especially for anyone drifting away from other streaming platforms.

The timing is interesting. Back in August, Apple Music introduced its own playlist-import tool, right as chaos surrounding Daniel Ek's alleged war-profiteering ignited across social media and pushed some artists to pack their bags. Maybe it was coincidence, maybe not, but Apple definitely benefited from the moment. Now Spotify is stepping in with its own version, hoping to lure back listeners who may have wandered off during the drama.
What Spotify launched isn't a shiny new in-house creation—it's an integrated version of TuneMyMusic, a service that already specializes in shuttling playlists across platforms. If you've ever tried moving your carefully curated mixes between Tidal, YouTube Music, Qobuz, Beatport, or even Napster, you've probably run into it. TuneMyMusic is one of several big players in this space, alongside Soundiiz and SongShift, the latter powering Apple Music's import feature.
Sure, you could head straight to those third-party services yourself. The catch? Their free tiers usually come with limits—playlist caps, track caps, or transfer restrictions that turn a simple move into a part-time job. Using Spotify's built-in option cuts all that friction. Like Apple, Spotify gives you the full, unlimited transfer experience when you go through the official route, though it still works in just one direction.
The biggest win here is convenience. Instead of leaving the app, your playlists from other services can hop straight into Spotify with a few taps. No drama, no half-broken exports, no "oops, only 200 songs allowed unless you pay us." Spotify knows people treat their playlists like digital diaries, and moving them should feel effortless.
The import tool is currently rolling out worldwide, so if you don't see it yet, it's on the way. And for anyone thinking about switching teams—or switching back—Spotify is quietly making sure your playlists won't stand in the way.
