It seems that there's a new way to flex your brain muscles while you pump iron at the gym. Spotify, everyone's favorite companion for music, podcasts, and now audiobooks, is adding a scholarly twist to its list with e-learning courses. Yes, you read that right. Soon, you might just be mastering Excel while mastering your deadlift form. The real multitasking dream, right?

Boy With Headphones Listening to a Course on Spotify
Spotify, in its perpetual quest to keep us hooked, is trialing this new feature in England. They're partnering up with big names like the BBC and Skillshare to offer a range of video courses. And get this: a couple of lessons are free! After that, it's a modest £20 to £80 for a full course. And hey, no need to worry about your Spotify subscription tier — prices are the same for everyone, at least for now.

Mohit Jitani, the brains behind this scheme, spilled the beans in an interview. He mentioned something about wanting to measure interest before turning up the heat. Fair enough, Mohit. We respect a cautious approach. But we're already brainstorming ways to gamify our learning experience. Leaderboards for best note-takers, anyone?

So, where can you find these? Well, just like your favorite playlist, they'll be nestled in Spotify's home and browse tabs, under the category "Courses." Accessible both on your laptop and on-the-go via the Spotify app, they're bringing education to your fingertips.

What's on the syllabus, you ask? Think YouTube meets MasterClass meets LinkedIn Learning. From music production to spreadsheet sorcery (ahem, Excel), they've got something for everyone. And in a meta twist, they even offer lessons on how to create online learning content. It's like learning-ception.

Now, before you cancel your subscription to all those other online learning platforms, hold your horses. While Spotify's approach might be refreshingly straightforward, it's lacking in the interactive department. Sure, there are some supplementary materials, but don't expect pop quizzes or interactive quizzes just yet.

There you have it, Spotify's diving headfirst into the educational deep end. Who knew you could work on your abs and your algebra simultaneously?
