Imagine this: you're busy and a call comes in. Instead of sending it to voicemail or dropping everything to answer, a robot picks up for you. But not just any robot—this one speaks in your voice. Thanks to a new partnership between Truecaller and Microsoft, this futuristic scenario is now a reality.

AI Robot Standing in Phone Screen Answering Truecaller Call
Truecaller, the popular caller ID service, is teaming up with Microsoft to let its AI-powered Assistant answer calls using your own voice. This groundbreaking feature leverages Microsoft's Personal Voice technology, introduced last November as part of Azure AI Speech. The result? A digital doppelgänger that can greet and respond to callers just like you would.

Truecaller's Assistant, available to paid users, can already screen unknown calls, take messages, respond on your behalf, and even record calls. Now, with Microsoft's tech, it can also replicate your voice. Users simply record a short script, giving their consent to create a digital copy of their voice. Once set up, the Assistant will start answering calls in your voice, making it clear to callers that they're hearing a digital version of you.

This feature isn't just cool; it's also incredibly practical. It means you can maintain a personal touch without being tied to your phone. Truecaller ensures that the initial greeting remains consistent to signal the use of a digital voice, but you can customize the follow-up responses. Plus, the AI adds watermarks to the speech outputs, so synthetic audio can be identified by detector tools, addressing any concerns about misuse.

Truecaller's product director and general manager, Raphael Mimoun, is excited about the partnership. He believes that this personal voice feature will revolutionize call management for users, enhancing their overall experience with Truecaller's Assistant. This sentiment is echoed by many in the tech community who see AI-powered voice technology as the next big leap in digital communication.

The rollout for this innovative feature will begin in the next few weeks, starting with users in the U.S., Canada, Australia, South Africa, India, Sweden, and Chile. Initially available to public beta users, it will gradually expand to all users in these regions.

So, get ready to let your digital voice take some calls. Truecaller's latest feature is set to change the way we interact with our phones, making life just a little bit easier and a whole lot more futuristic.
