If you've always thought the limited profile section on X (or Twitter if you're stuck in the past) wasn't enough to cover your greatness, it's your time to rejoice . . . and to start revising your profile to include your entire life story.

Little People Around Computer Socializing
Now, when you check out somebody's profile with the expanded profile option available, all you'll need to do is click "View more" to delve deep into that user's psyche. That's what we do on social media these days, right?

But wait a second, it seems at the moment that only X Premium or Verification for Business subscribers in the web version of the app can flaunt this expanded profile. We hear that a lot these days over on the X front. They've been introducing all kinds of cool stuff, but only the "premium" users have access. It's all part of Elon's master scheme to get back some of that hefty bundle of green he dropped on the platform.

But is there value, beyond simply bragging about who you are, to having an expanded bio? Is this something we really need? X thinks so, and the platform seems to be thinking beyond the individual user, at least in the long term.

This expanded profile seems to target individuals, with a goal toward extensive professional bios or bios similar to LinkedIn bios, but there might even be bigger fish to fry for brands if X decides to use this goldmine of information for algorithmic matching and recommendations.

If you're planning to jump on this bigger profile bandwagon to gain more traction in the X feed, you're probably going to add those juicy keywords that X's system will pick up on in an effort to show you more relevant recommendations and to ensure your profile gets displayed in all the right places. This will be more important for brands, but even casual users might want to take note before randomly updating their profiles.

It's unclear how X will use this extra stuff it learns about you, but once it has its hands on your upgraded bios, it'll likely find ways to add it to its contextual matching engines to make it more valuable as an internal SEO tool.

As is usually the case, X is pushing updates out pretty fast, so a large-scale push will likely happen sooner rather than later, although it's unclear if those pesky non-paying users will get a chance to partake.

Either way, X is letting you mark your spot with an expanded bio that really lets folks know what you're all about.
